my first memory of a four - legged friend was some 64 years ago
a white terrier type dog named Paddy.
He would lick my toes through the bars of my wooden cot.
One day my Father took him out (as usual) but never brought him back.
Paddy had gone to heaven.
A short time after ,while with a group of people ,watching a Horse in a field, (we did that sort of thing in those days ) a boy
threw a tin car at it and frightened the horse away. I remember the ice cold feeling of blackness at such a cruel act.
O n V.E. day (victory day after the war ) Prince arrived tucked inside my Fathers jacket ,a black and tan terrier type puppy
Paddies replacement- had arrived-------------------I remember eating bread and jam for tea.
My father died when I was 12 . I was given a hand written note and told to take Prince to the Vet and to hand in the note
I went home carrying the lead and empty collar .
Some years later , while I was in Boarding School , Prince 2 arrived. We met when I went home on holiday.
He took me to my first Dog Show picture ...]][]]
After scrambling my way through the 1960's and 70's,I found myself 'doing' competition obedience with Mo
a Border collie. We really did have some fun

Then came Poppy. A Belgian Shepherd dog Tervueren :
I bought her when she was 7 weeks old to the day-- was put 'to sleep' almost 14 years later
she was my constant companion from the day she arrived. We only spent one night apart during the whole of her life:
initially she was brought up by Mo

Poppy is (was) the longest relationship I ever had in all my life--with any thing or anybody-including Parents and family.
during her life we went everywhere together. we started off in Buckinghamshire--spent a short time in Kennels where I was
manageress, then moved to
Birmingham-from Birmingham we went to the Orkney Island of Westray.
We came back
to
Birmingham., it was
at this time that Lhasa Apsos came into our life. .
We then spent
time living in a caravan on a friends
orchard in Herefordshire, from there we shared a bungalow at Malvern with a 'dog show person' who moved on in her life so
we went back to the orchard. ,with a chance to rent a country cottage attached to it, which we were eventually able to do.
This was Poppy's final
resting place
to be continued............................
